Stroke is the second leading cause of death worldwide. This activity is intended to improve stroke care globally.
The Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN) created this educational course that will provide certification in the basic care of stroke. BSES targets the general public, EMS, hospital personnel and healthcare workers, with the goal of increasing awareness of stroke and improving care in the acute setting.
Each minute an artery remains blocked, 1.9 million brain cells die; recognizing and triaging patients quickly to the best medical care is crucial.
Course participants will:
Increase their awareness of stroke
Be able to list stroke warning signs and the steps of activating EMS
Understand the importance of early detection, access, and treatment
Know the treatment options for strokes
Upon completion of this course, participants will take a 20-question quiz. With a passing score of 80% or higher, participants will received a 2-year BSES certificate and 1.5 continuing education credits.
